Turkey
Particular attention has applied to selection of appropriate feed size at all stages.
For best results, it is important to offer your flock the complete Barastoc turkey feeding programme. Turkeys require a high plane of nutrition, particularly during the first four weeks to get them off to a great start. To help prevent coccidiosis (a parasite) we have selected the premium anti-coccidial product, Avatec for standard inclusion in diets offered up to around eight weeks post hatch.
Whilst the requirement for protein and amino acids declines during the grower stage, energy requirement remains high.
Finisher and Breeder diets are designed to finish large turkeys, prepare breeders and support breeding by providing dietary balance without oversupplying nutrients.
The diets are complete, however, your flock can be given access to pasture provided this does not replace intake of Barastoc feed to the detriment of dietary balance. Ensure continuous access to feed and sufficient feeding space for all turkeys to eat at the same time. The only case for limiting the allocation of feed is for very heavy breeds at maturity.
Clean water must be available to all birds at all times.
When feeding advanced genotypes such as the Nicholas it is important to be guided by body weight targets rather than age. Do not skip diets in the feeding programme. However, it is appropriate to advance to the next diet in the programme if body weight-for-age exceeds the standard weight guidelines provided by your hatchery.
Please see your poultry supplier for information on turkey management.

Meat chickens
Barastoc’s feeding programme for meat chickens is designed to deliver health and performance with maximum simplicity. Particular attention has been taken in selecting appropriate feed size at all stages.
This programme is suited to a wide range of traditional pure-breeds including meat and multi-purpose breeds as well as commercial hybrid broilers: Cobb, Ross and Arbor Acre.
For best results, it is important to offer your flock the complete Barastoc meat chicken feeding programme. A high plane of nutrition is required to support growth and breast meat deposition. To help prevent coccidiosis (a parasite) we have selected the premium anti-coccidial product, Avatec for standard inclusion in diets offered up to around four weeks post hatch.
During the grower stage, the requirement for protein and amino acids declines. Depending on genetic potential and conditions, the flock may reach target body weight early in the Finisher stage. However, some breeds and individuals may require several more weeks of feeding. Finisher and Breeder diets are suitable for preparation of breeders and to support breeding by providing dietary balance without oversupplying nutrients.
The diets are complete, however, your flock can be given access to pasture provided this does not replace intake of Barastoc feed to the detriment of dietary balance. Whole of life, ensure continuous access to feed, and sufficient feeding space for all chickens in the flock to eat at the same time.

Please see the Barastoc Chook Book for useful information about management of laying chickens. Meat chickens do, however, have special management requirements. Please see your hatchery for more information.

Duck and Goose
Many species, sub-species, breeds and strains of birds populate this category. Despite their differences, they have many shared needs that set them apart from chickens and other species of birds. For example, in comparison to chickens:
- Water fowl do not deposit breast meat to the same extent.
- Their water intake relative to feed intake is much greater.
- Some characteristics of their digestive processes differ.
- Feed texture is especially important because waterfowl have bills not beaks.
- Anti-coccidials are not registered for in-feed application in ducks.
Depending on genetic potential and conditions, the flock may reach target body weight early in the Finisher phase. However, some breeds and individuals may require several more weeks of feeding. Finisher and Breeder diets are suitable for preparation of breeders and to support breeding by
providing dietary balance without oversupplying nutrients.
