Home-rearing often presents additional challenges not seen in commercial piggeries due to early weaning and/or the unknown health status of piglets. The provision of high quality, palatable feeds as provided by the Barastoc UltraWean range is critical in ensuring survival and development of piglets.
The Barastoc UltraWean range features:
- High nutrient density for maximum performance
- Cooked grain ration for improved digestibility
- Pelleted formulation for reduced separation*
- Good palatability for improved feed intake and reduced weaning setback
- Enzymes for improved lightweight gain and feed conversion, and reduced digestive disorders and variation
- Acidifier for improved protein digestion and reduced proliferation of bacteria in the gut.
All UltraWean rations that are packaged in 40 kg or 20 kg bags contain Tylan® (tylosin phosphate) for improved feed conversion efficiency and growth, and the control of ileitis and enteric diseases susceptible to tylosin. Other medications are optional and subject to availability.

Concentrates
Barastoc concentrates can be blended with grains to make complete feeds for all classes of pigs. They are ideal for those producers who have access to home-grown or purchased grains and suitable feed mixing equipment. The ability to add one pre-mixed, quality-assured concentrate greatly simplifies purchasing and on-farm mixing. Each concentrate contains a balanced blend of energy, protein, minerals and vitamins and is formulated to the same exacting standards and using same high quality ingredients as complete feeds. Barastoc concentrates are generally included at 18–25% of the complete mix.
